Vacation 2011 Oregon Coast

The week of Aug 15th we drove to the Oregon Coast it was so much fun. The first night we stayed in Tillamook OR, we stayed at the Ashley Inn. The beds were AMAZING!!! they had a pool so the kids were able to swim they were like little fish. Avah just finished swimming lessons before we went so she is now able to float on her back for 5 sec or longer without help and she can hold her breath for 5 sec under water. we cant wait for her to start lessons again, its amazing that in 8 lessons she was a completly different child around water.

Wednesday morning we got up and went swimming again. We drove out to Cape Meares to see the light house. The view and scenery was beautiful. We then drove down to Pacific City and we went to the beach. It was windy and the sand blowing accross the beach was like knives stabbing into your leggs. We drove back to Garibaldi and stayed at Harbor View Inn. It was a cute little motel really clean rooms (always a plus). That night we went out to the jetty watched the waves and had some dinner.

Thursday morning we were up bight and early(4:30) to head out deap sea fishing. It was SO FREAKIN COLD! We signed in with the charter and headed out. The loud humming of the boat motor and the rocking of the boat put me right to sleep. The deck hands were laughing at me because they'd never seen someone fall asleep on board and my mouth was wide open. Fishing was extremly slow but I was the first one to catch a fish. Jeff one of the deck hand kept casting out his line with us and when he would catch one he would hand me the pole to reel it in. We caught the most fish out of our group. On the way back to shore we picked up the crab pots we had dropped on our way out. On the way back in I fell asleep again and woke up right before we got inland. That night we went to the beach and played in the water, collected shells, walked on the beach and Avah found a starfish on the beach so we tossed it back into the ocean.

Friday morning we got up and headed home. We drove ALL DAY LONG!!! The kids were really good on the drive. It was an excellent vacation and we didnt want to leave. We cant wait to do it again. I think next time we go we might go more south where its warmer and we are thinking of renting a beach house so that we can spend as much time as we can on the beach.
